We recently informed you about a working port of Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 for the Nexus S which is available to download right now, but now we have a video preview of this build for those that are looking to see how it runs before going ahead and installing on their devices.
The video gives an excellent overview of the main nuts and bolts of Ice Cream Sandwich and it gives you a good idea of how well it runs on the Nexus S, a handset that has already been confirmed by Google to be getting an official update at some point in the future.
Before you watch the video, it is worth pointing out that this build is from the Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 SDK, meaning that it is obviously not the final version and is far from polished. We’ve read a lot of criticism on how the ICS build seen here on the Nexus S is very sluggish and takes a while to load tasks, but you should be reminded that this won’t be an issue in the official Ice Cream Sandwich updates that Google roll out.
In reality, the official build of ICS is a lot likely to be more comparable to the build seen running on the Galaxy Nexus at Google’s event in Hong Kong, so bear that in mind if you start to have doubts after watching the video.
The video, provided by Droid-Life takes a look at the new features of Ice Cream Sandwich, and how all the apps have been updated with a touch of 4.0 – The phone dialer, Google+, YouTube and Music apps for example. If you do have a Nexus S and have yet to download Ice Cream Sandwich to your device, it is well worth giving it a trial since we don’t know when the official version will be out.
For those that already have ICS on the Nexus S – How do you find the overall performance? Are you confident that the speed issues will be improved on in further releases?
