While hardcore gamers enjoy their Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3, there are still many people who enjoy playing games in other ways. Today we can tell about Sony and Microsoft jealousy as Facebook has the most gamers using its services than anyone else.
Facebook may be coming under increased pressure from other social networks, as well as its users being unhappy with the constant changes. But one thing is for sure it still can’t be beaten for user numbers who visit the site on a regular basis. Now TechRadar is reporting the social networking site has revealed it has more games than the PlayStation, Nintendo, and Xbox platforms put together.
The site has been talking about social gaming at the London part of its developer conference today when it revealed the news. Facebook’s director of partnerships, Ethan Beard, told developers “social design inside social gaming has driven fantastic growth”.
He continued by revealing the site has more than 200 million social gamers visiting the site every month, and “that’s more Facebook gamers than the Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo combined”. It’s being claimed that the success is down to Facebook’s gaming apps being designed around users instead of graphics.
Beard said that the games on Facebook are very simple compared to ones found on the PS3 or Xbox 360, but the biggest thing with them is that users play with their friends with social interactions. Farmville expanded thanks to users news feeds with non-stop references making their way onto these.
But this led to many users to stop posting on their profiles to prevent their friends getting constantly spammed with their game information. This has been one feature that users of Google+ have preferred as the gaming information is kept completely separate from the regular news feed.
Do you play Facebook games? If so which one?
