Leading up to the release of the last iPhone there were many rumors suggesting that the device will reach more carriers than before. While this was proven to be the case with regards to Sprint, T-Mobile customers were again left without any official access to an iPhone. Now T-Mobile gives the reasons for iPhone 4S no show on the carrier.
Andrew Sherrard who is the carrier’s senior vice president has gone on record with the reasons the carrier still doesn’t provide the iPhone. He explained to the carrier’s customers that the device still won’t work on the networks T-Mobile uses, even though the company asked Apple to provide hardware that would work according to an article on BusinessInsider.
In Sherrard’s statement he says “Ultimately, it is Apple’s decision”. Users of the T-Mobile network can use an iPhone if they purchase an unlocked device before adapting their T-Mobile SIM card. Trouble is the device will only work on the carriers’ slower 2G EDGE network.
The statement continues by saying its customers have some 4G devices that compare well with the iPhone. It claims that many of the smartphones on offer provide faster speeds, bigger displays, better cameras, and more choice. It lists the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S II and the HTC Amaze 4G as worthy alternatives to the iPhone.
We recently told you about smaller carriers in the US now being able to provide the iPhone, and for customers of T-Mobile it must be disappointing to not get hold of the device. This may lead to many customers switching to another carrier if they want an official iPhone that badly.
Are you thinking of leaving T-Mobile to get an official iPhone?
