We recently gave you news that Apple were may be launching a more affordable iPad to take on the Amazon Kindle Fire. It is thought any such device will launch alongside an all new iPad, and now we have news that the iPad 3 release date is on the horizon as production rumors emerge.
An analyst Chris Caso of Susquehanna Financial is claiming to have made checks, and has found that iPad 3 production will start this year. It is being claimed that production will get underway around December, and according to Electronista initial numbers would be somewhere between 600,000 to 1 million.
We have already had talk of Apple bringing forward the release date for the device, and that Apple is rumored to scaling back production of the current model in readiness of the next version of the iPad. If the company does start production in December it would fall in line with the trend the company has followed for the other versions of the device.
The iPad 2 was launched back in March just under a year after the original was launched, but if production of the device starts slightly early we could see the iPad 3 hitting the market within the first couple of months of 2012. Apple may also want to get the next version out early to preempt any changes Samsung might make to its Galaxy Tabs if it loses the patent battle with Apple.
Apple continues to dominate a now crowded tablet market as more devices are being released, but many feel the lower priced Amazon tablet could be the first to offer a serious threat to the company’s market share.
