News that a tie-in game for upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man movie was revealed as the brand new Spider-Man: Edge of Time game from Activision hit stores today. The release of the new game has been fairly low key despite developers Beenox having quite a reputation when it comes to the movie-to-games business, responsible for the likes of the Bee Movie Game, Quantum of Solace and Monsters vs. Aliens.

The new game is yet to get an official announcement but the news came courtesy of IGN who were able to capture a shot of a poster promoting next year’s movie at New York Comic-Con. The image revealed that Activision will inevitably publish the new game, meaning they will most likely use Beenox’s talents in development once again, having already used them for Spider-Man: Edge of Time and Shattered Dimensions.

In the build-up to today’s release of Spider-Man: Edge of Time, we have been providing our readers with details about the game including screenshots and an announcement trailer that teased some of the exciting gameplay. Today we have provided a launch trailer that marks today’s release, which you can view below.

The game has not had the best reviews so far, some reports describing it as sloppy and rushed. In light of the news of the new movie tie-in game, it could be that the reason it was so poor is because the developers needed to get the time in for the release of next year’s game, likely to be launched the same time as the movie which hits the big screen July. That’s just 9 months away.
