The new Cards app has now gone live in the app store, and looking at the price that UK users will have to pay, it seems like they have been done yet again. When we first learned about the service we were given the price in the US, which is $2.99 including postage in the States and $4.99 everywhere else in the world. However, the price in Blighty is one set price, £3.99.
We cannot understand why there are not two prices for UK customers, which could mean that it will be a service that is not used much? This is a shame, as it does have potential, but then again, we may have to send one or two just to see what we think of the service. Don’t threat just yet Hallmark, but always keep a close eye on Apple, as they have a knack of making a success of something new.
However, if you are based in the UK, then there is an alternative to Apple’s pricey service. It’s called Touchnote and is said to be half the price of Cards, but don’t think that they offer any less of a service. Having looked at their app on iTunes, they’re not wrong about being cheaper; they will charge just £1.49 for the card to be delivered anywhere.
We are not certain how many designs they offer, but Apple’s Cards allows you to choose from 21 designs, all of which can be customized to how you like it. The choice of which one to use is down to you, but it’s hard to see how Apple can compete in the UK with that price?
