Android owners were really not kidding when they said that Android already had Apple’s Siri functionality on their devices – everyone just doesn’t know it yet. If you are feeling slightly jealous of Apple’s impressive take on voice controls, you may want to try a few apps on Android which essentially do the same job.
Let us point out that we’re not bashing Apple’s Siri features. Far from it actually, as once again Apple has seemingly grabbed existing technology by the gonads and come up with a fresh take on using simple voice commands to enhance your day-to-day tasks using your smartphone and make your life that little more better.
With that in mind, it’s only fair for Android owners to join in on the fun as well, and now you can thanks to two applications available to download from the Android market for absolutely nothing, as noted by Droid-Life. The first app is called Speaktoit which will work in a similar way to Siri in the fact that it will allow the user to speak into the device to perform tasks on the smartphone such as looking up directions, finding out the latest weather report and news, updating a status message on your favorite social networking website, and much more.
The second app is simply called Voice Actions and will allow users to bring up news, music, photos, set alarms and reminders by using your voice only. Just like Siri on iOS 5, Voice Actions on Android will also allow you to send text messages and emails by voice, we’ve included a video below to show you some of the features in action.
So fear not Android users, you too can enjoy a bit of Siri on your device. Maybe you already had these apps installed on your Android smartphone. If you have experienced these apps before, give us your thoughts on them.
As an Android user, do you feel jealous over Apple’s Siri features or not?
