The Testament of Sherlock Holmes, boasts a new engine

By Jamie Pert - Oct 10, 2011

The guys behind the next Sherlock Holmes video game, Frogwares, have been keeping very quiet since claiming that The Testament of Sherlock Holmes is their “biggest and most beautiful game” yet, but a recent article posted over at JoyStiq has revealed quite a few details which people may find interesting.

Let’s start with a spoiler, which isn’t really a spoiler – part of the game’s press campaign has stated that Holmes dies in the game, we can’t help but think that there will be some sort of twist as otherwise Frogwares has already ruined a big part of the game’s plot, we very much doubt that this is the case.

One of the most interesting things which we can confirm is that the game features a new graphic engine, the screenshot below gives us a taster and we are very impressed by the smooth-looking visuals and great lighting – how about you?

Quite a lot of the information was already revealed, but we will run though it anyway, firstly this is the first title in the series which has been developed primarily for consoles, that said it is still coming to PC and we can expect all platforms to the launch the game in early 2012. Something less important which is worth a quick mention is that in the game Watson questions Holmes’ sanity – could this suggest that the plot features many twists and turns? We hope so.

If you check out the JoyStiq link in the first paragraph of this post you can see a gallery of screenshots, below we have embedded another screen which shows off the new engine, are you impressed?

Have you played previous Sherlock Holmes games? If so, what would you like to see improved this time around?
