With just hours to go before Apple’s ‘Let’s talk iPhone’ event, it appears that one major twist and turn could be hitting the event, one which none of us expected to see. We know that a Sprint iPhone 5 is expected to make an appearance at the event, but rumors are suggesting that it could be arriving as part of an exclusive deal between Apple and Sprint.
Yeah, it sounds pretty farfeteched we agree, but you can’t stop the rumors from churning out, and there’s always one crazy rumor right before Apple’s event. Sources within BGR have claimed that Sprint and Apple have struck a deal, in which Apple will see the iPhone 5 take to the stage, as a Sprint device ONLY, for the time being anyway.
Further bombshells from the report state that this device will be a 4G WiMax supported device and that both AT&T and Verizon will have to wait until the first quarter of 2012 to get their hands on the iPhone 5, to which the device will be LTE supported for both 4G networks.
It seems unheard of for Apple not to release their upcoming fifth-generation iPhone on AT&T and Verizon this year, and it has become a huge talking point on why Apple would strike such a deal and alienate customers from AT&T and Verizon who have become their most trusted followers over the last few years. An apparent $20 billion deal reached between Apple and Sprint to sell iPhones may be a big answer to this puzzle if we are to believe this report by the Wall Street Journal, but again – it just seems like this isn’t going to happen.
If you are a Sprint customer reading this, naturally you are delighted with the news. For everyone else though, this could be a major, major shock – let us know what you think of this rumor.
