Exclusive Nokia Maps for Sea Ray, maybe not

As you may already know, October is considered smartphone month, because not only will the new iPhone be released this month but also the Nexus Prime (supposedly) and Sea Ray. For those who do not know, this is expected to be the first Nokia handset running Windows Phone mobile OS. There is still one question that needs to be answered, and that is if Nokia Maps will be exclusive to the Finnish phone maker, or if rival handset makers will also gain access to the new service?
The Nokia Sea Ray is expected to look very similar to the N9, which was a good phone, but was let down by its hardware. By utilizing Windows Phone it is expected to give the handset a significant boost – although not certain if it will be able to stop the downwards spiral that Nokia has experienced since the launch of the iPhone and Android?
Let’s say for arguments sake that Nokia Maps will not be a Nokia exclusive, then we have to wonder how these Finnish phones will be able to stand out against rival models? IntoMobile knows that there are a number of aspects that will be taken into consideration by the consumer, although hardware specs will have to remain the same – something that Microsoft has stipulated.
Nokia will be able to draw on one or two assets though, and that is with build quality when compared to Samsung. However, where it will lack is with design innovation. Once Sea Ray or whatever Nokia will call their Windows phone is released, then we should know in a short amount of time if they are on to a winner, but one thing we do know, Nokia Maps will be a far greater sat-nav solution than the one that Apple offers with its iPhone.
