On Saturday we learned that Amazon could be unveiling their new tablet device during this week, well that day could be tomorrow and might be called the Kindle Fire. This is a much tougher market to enter when compared to eReaders, as there will be much more rivalry for the Amazon tablet, such as the iPad, Galaxy Tab, Xoom, PlayBook etc.
There is far more saturation in the tablet market when compared to the eReader, so how will the Kindle Fire get on? The iPad is the biggest threat to the success of the new Amazon tablet, and there is no fear that sales of Apple’s tablet device will falter any time soon. The BlackBerry PlayBook is another rival, but will be much easier for the Fire to take on, as sales of RIM’s device is not as they had hoped – showing what a tough market it is.
The Galaxy Tab 10.1 has been a bit of an issue for Samsung (due to the ongoing legal issue with Apple) but that does not take away the fact that it is a more than capable tablet. If the Kindle Fire can compete with this, then Amazon can build upon this for its next model, which we expect will be released in late 2012 – close to the end of the world then.
We would have liked to consider the HP TouchPad a rival, but if Amazon is unable to compete with it in sales, than the Fire will be considered a failure, due to the fact that Hewlett Packard has stopped selling the device after a short amount of time on the market. Although HP is said to be planing a comeback for the TouchPad.
The Sony Tablet S is the newest and will be the one that the Kindle Fire will want to compete with the most. Both are late to the market, which could either go for or against them. There is no denying that Sony has the ability to produce some truly amazing hardware, we just do not know if Amazon is up to the challenge?
