A few days ago we told you that Amazon could be about to launch their new tablet tomorrow at a special press event. We have since learnt that the device could be called the Amazon Fire, and wondered how it will compete in an already crowded market. Now we have news of Amazon tablet magazine deals pre release date.
The company has already agreed terms with three large publishing houses, which will provide digital magazine content for the device. AppleInsider are reporting that Amazon will also be adding Fox movies and TV shows to its Amazon Prime video service. The companies that have agreed to supply the device with content are Conde Nast, Hearst, and Meredith.
It is widely believed that Amazon will be unveiling new Kindle eReaders alongside a media tablet. The three publishers already have deals with Apple, and it is thought they have signed similar deals with Amazon. They are believed to be getting around seventy percent of all the revenue from sales, and Amazon is thought to be sharing some customer data with them.
Unlike Apple though it is believed Amazon will take a higher or a lower cut sometimes depending on the content and offer. Presently on name missing is Time, Inc. as the publisher has so far been reluctant to allow a digital subscription model. It only sells individual titles on the Apple App Store, but sources believe a deal with Amazon could be in place by the end of the year.
For publishers to make deals with Amazon makes sense as the company already sells a lot of their titles the old fashioned way with books. Hearst has already stated that Amazon would be the number one third-party reseller of its media via digital downloads. It is also claimed that the three publishers have already begun getting titles ready for Amazon’s 7-inch tablet device.
Publishers are already excited about the new deal and said while they love what Apple has to offer, with Amazon “you have marketing, and ease of use, we’re very optimistic.” Will you be interested in the Amazon tablet?
