Samsung ‘Nexus Prime’ a finalist in awards pre-release

By Updated on

The Samsung Nexus Prime is sure to get a release date for next month, although the device may launch under another name. It’s not easy making sense of the Nexus Prime rumors and we’ve tried to focus on the most solid news in the midst of apparent leaks, and today we have one of the more solid stories.

Some names of finalists have been revealed for the CTIA Hot for the Holidays Awards, and as you can see in the image below, thanks to this source and ctia.org, you can see that a product is yet to be announced for the “Gamer and Entertainment Enthusiast” category, although we do know that product is for Samsung Mobile.

We’re pretty sure this will be Samsung’s Nexus Prime, and if this turns out to be true then those looking to buy this phone should get pretty excited, as for the Prime to be considered a finalist means it will be packing some nice hardware for the gamer and entertainment user.

You can see a full list of the finalists for the CTIA 2011 awards here, which point to what devices will be hot this holiday season. It is a bit strange that the list was shown so the online voting can begin, how can a vote be passed for a product not yet announced, unless we’re about to get a name within the next couple of days.

Anyone thinking of getting the Nexus Prime from Samsung, or whatever the name will be? The moment things get concrete we’ll let you know. You may also want to read about the possible weight issues for Nexus Prime, and also what may be the best Verizon smartphones in October.

Been waiting. Getting this phone the fay it drops. Just hoping for a good line of accessories…car mount, hdmi out capability, and the ability for inductive charging. Can’t wait. Hoping it drops in october rather than nov. 3rd as rumored. Official announcements and commercial would be nice to see soon!

Heck yeah! I usually wait a month after release however, it’s looking like I can easily make an exception this time! Prime me!

What about this makes you think they’re talking about the Prime?  It could be the Note.

I’ll be getting the next Nexus, and I can’t wait!

Can’t wait for the Prime – the sooner it arrives, the better! Just hope the rumours of processor shortages resulting in a 1.2GHz spec instead of 1.5 are not true.

On a slightly pedantic note: it’s “midst” not “mist”!

There are currently two Nexus Prime devices — the SCH-i515 (Droid Prime) and GT-I9250 (Nexus Prime) so I wonder which one it is and what the differences will be (other than carrier) for these two phones.  I want the VZW 4g LTE version which rumors have it as the Droid Prime.

I heard a rumor that one would be Vanilla and the Verizon one would be bloated. I hope that’s a false rumor, as I really want a Vanilla device and stay with Verizon.

I don’t think VZ will allow non-bloated phones. They are control freaks who want to rebrand “android” as their own “droid” line.

Ugh all this hype is making me more antsy! I’m attempting to pass on the bionic because the prime is rumored to be so much better and with a better res screen. But its also rumored it wont be out till November 3rd :(
