There will be certain people reading this article that have only just bought a PS3 or Xbox 360, and it will be far from their minds that the current generation is coming to an end of its lifecycle, with current rumors pointing to 2013 or 2014 for the next-gen systems to release, and much sooner for Wii U.
When it comes to FPS games we know that they should be better than many of the past releases thanks to the amount of time developers have had to improve their skills on each of the current systems, and this has not been the case with many of the games lacking, although we’ve had a few outstanding games along the way.
Playing the latest generation of games at EuroGamer in London shocked me a little, most of the games in terms of graphics have not really improved, and when it comes to destructible environment some have gone slightly backwards. Take BF2, the environments were smashed to pieces and BF3 had to tone this down a little so not to overkill in the new game. I played Battlefield 3 and was disappointed with the result, graphics are nothing special and destruction was not what I hoped for, such a shame.
It’s not all bad, although to compete with the following that Call of Duty’s MW3 will have, it had to be an outstanding game and bring features to the table that others lacked, we doubt this has happened.
There are other complaints about the Battlefield 3 beta being limited like a demo, this small post on Obnoxious Gamer looks at just this, and in their opinion the “one map and one game mode” is not enough, and should’ve been expanded to allow the gamer to fully explore the game in a decent amount of time. Have you had a hands-on with Battlefield 3? If so, were you disappointed?
