Yesterday we brought you the news that Apple board member Al Gore had what seemed like a slip of the tongue, and made a comment that hinted the company was bringing out more than one new handset next month. Now today we have a report that only an iPhone 4S is coming next month, as packaging for the alleged device emerges online.
In a report that contradicts various other rumors iPhone Hacks are reporting that an analyst is claiming only one new model of the iPhone will be unveiled at next month’s event. Brian Blair of Wedge Partners is claiming the iPhone 4S is to be the only new iPhone revealed next month.
He is claiming the big focus of the new model will be iOS 5, and the actual device will have an upgraded A5 processor. It is also claimed to have an 8-megapixel camera and maybe a 4-inch screen. The casing of the device will be similar to the current iPhone 4 but with an improved antenna. The company feels that Apple doesn’t need three different models on the market.
It is also claimed there will be an iPhone 4 model that only has 8GB of memory, which has been reported before costing $99. Personally I think Apple will release a cheaper iPhone as it makes perfect sense for the company. But I also think we will see an all new handset next month, as Apple look to take on the likes of the Galaxy S II and Droid Bionic.
Meanwhile evidence is growing that an iPhone 4S is indeed incoming as packaging for cases have appeared. AppleInsider have some images of packaging that clearly shows ‘iPhone 4S’. The packaging is for some Otter box cases, and it is claimed the company has manufactured 3 million of them. There are also some parts that are similar to the current iPhone 4.
Will you be disappointed if there is only the iPhone 4S coming next month?
