After months of speculation and rumors it looks like we are finally getting close to the release of the iPhone 5. Yesterday we brought you the news that Apple is thought to be holding a press event on October 4th to announce the device. There has been a lot of talk about Apple releasing two new handsets with one being a cheaper alternative. Today we have news of new iPhone’s coming next month, so says Al Gore.
Apple board member and former Vice President Al Gore was recently talking at the Discovery Invest Leadership Summit. Thenextweb are reporting that he specifically quoted “Not to mention the new iPhone’s coming out next month. That was a plug.”
People who were at the event said that the statement was definitely plural, but it wasn’t clear if it was about two different versions of the iPhone. It must strengthen the countless rumors that have been circulating recently that Apple was indeed going to bring out two new iPhone’s this fall.
A cheaper iPhone 4 lookalike has been talked about before to be launched alongside an all new iPhone 5. This is the first time recently that anyone connected to Apple has made any statements about the next iPhone. Gore could have just made a mistake, and it has to be remembered he is a politician.
He may not be an Apple employee but he has been an important member of the Apple board, and has pushed efforts to make the company more environmentally friendly. It is thought once the new iPhone does get revealed, Apple are looking at a quick turnaround getting the device out to consumers.
Do you think there will be more than one new iPhone next month?
