Windows 8 tablets hit auction sites

By Updated on

The tablet that seems to be getting all the attention of late is the one from Samsung running Windows 8. Expectations are very high for this new device, so much so that those that were handed out at BUILD have now started to appear on auction sites. If you really feel the need to get your dirty little mitts on one, then you are going to need to be committed, as some of them are reaching $3,500 on eBay.

We cannot see why anyone would want to pay so much for a Windows 8 tablet, as you can download the software for yourself from Microsoft’s developer website. However, the only issue with this is the fact that you will not be able to take advantage of the Samsung hardware, which we have to say looks very impressive. No other tablet is able to offer the kind of spec that the South Korean consumer electronics maker has managed to pack into the small device.

For those of you who have only just learned about this device, then let us refresh your memory as to what you can expect. First up is its display, all 11.6 inches of it, then there is that Intel i5 processor, 64GB SSD and also a massive 4GB or RAM. If this was ever going to be the final build, then we can say the tablet market would shift up a gear in terms of performance.

Having said all that, as this is a developer preview, it will never hit the market. It does seem a shame, as this could have been a game changer for not only Microsoft, but Samsung as well. Both companies need all the help they can get in the fight against Apple, as the iPad is not the most powerful tablet on the market, but it still commands a huge percentage of the tablet market share.

So if you want to have the fastest and most powerful tablet, then you need to head over to eBay and get bidding now.
