Earlier today we gave you the news that Apple are set to announce the iPhone 5 on October 4th. Now it has been announced that AT&T are possibly going to ship the Galaxy S II the same week as the iPhone 5.
The carrier has revealed that will start to ship its version of the Samsung Galaxy S II on October 2nd. According to Electronista it will cost customers $200 on the condition of signing up to a 24 month contract. The carriers take on the handset is the closet to what the version found in the rest of the world is like. Although its iPhone like home button is replaced with the more Android looking four button navigation keys.

The timing of the release of the Samsung Galaxy S II could put right it up with the release of the iPhone 5. There are reports of the iPhone 5 being revealed on Tuesday October 4th, with Apple actually getting the device out to US consumers the following Friday.
The carrier has always considered the iPhone as its flagship smartphone offering for its customers, and the device makes up around sixty percent of AT&Ts smartphone sales. This could mean the carrier concentrating their efforts on the iPhone 5 release over any new Android device.
If the two handsets do become available to AT&T consumers within in a week of each other it will mean one thing though, consumers will have a nice choice of new smartphones to pick from. The new iPhone looks set to be the center of some legal challenges though from rival electronics company Samsung.
Earlier today we told you that the Korean company is looking to ban the device in Europe, so whether this may cross the pond to the US as well remains to be seen. Which handset between the iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S II will you want?
