Hopefully we have been doing a good enough job of satisfying our readers with the news of FIFA 12 that we have provided so far. The game is about to release on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 very soon, and the demo also recently released across those platforms. Now we can reveal that the Xperia Play will also be getting the game exclusively in November, making it the first Android smartphone to get it.
We previously brought you an article, touching on the details of an exclusive deal that Sony Ericson had made with EA, but we were unable to give a more specific date of when this would happen or how long for. Details have now emerged via DroidGamers pointing to mid-November and also suggesting that the deal will be exclusive to the Xperia Play until February 12th 2012.
The news was revealed while the site was talking to Qualcomm and Sony Ericsson representatives at VDCC. It was there that they discovered the exclusivity of FIFA 12 on the device would be for a lot longer than expected.
DroidGamers explain that their previous estimates over when the game would launch on the device were made from working out when the Android Market would have the game on general sale, then going back a month, as this is how long a device would normally have exclusive rights for. If this turns out to be a regular occurrence with the Sony smartphone, the company could see their sales rise, as a lot of gamers would relish having first dibs on a game, especially if they are al as popular as FIFA.
What do you think of this exclusive deal? Will it be enough to make more people go out and buy the Xperia Play?
