There seems to be a constant barrage of new Android handsets being released these days, and many of these new devices always seem to have large screen sizes. One of the manufacturers that have many big screen handsets is HTC. So today we can welcome you to the big HTC Runnymede as the first press shots are released.
The guys over at Pocket Now have managed to get their hands on the first images that can be seen above. This new upcoming device will have a monster 4.7-inch qHD touchscreen, and also sports an eight megapixel camera supported by a dual flash. It is also capable of taking 720p video and has a 1.3-megapixel shooter on the front.
What may disappoint some potential buyers of the device is the fact it will be powered by a 1.5GHz single core MSM8255 processor. The norm lately for new smartphones is to have a dual-core processor but you can’t have everything. It will also come with 758MB of RAM and 16GB or 32GB of storage running Android Gingerbread. Add to that HTC Sense 3.5 and DNLA connectivity and a set of Beats headphones.
Currently there is no release date for the device but this should become clearer at the upcoming HTC event in New York City in a weeks time. The price for the new smartphone will be £530($838) for the unlocked version of the 16GB Runnymede, and the 32GB model will set you back a cool £560($885). Not exactly cheap but this is for the unlocked versions so expect to see more affordable prices with a two year contract.
Although not quite as big as the recently announced 5.3-inch Samsung Galaxy Note, this new HTC device is still on the large size. This is great for watching video or browsing the web and emails, but won’t exactly fit easily into a trouser pocket.
Is a 4.7-inch screen size to big for you or ideal?
