When the Motorola Droid Bionic was first revealed back in January consumers got to see a groundbreaking smartphone called the Motorola Droid Bionic, however the journey since then has been a long one and this impressive smartphone has only just been release – but was it worth the wait?
Well recently Engadget got their hands on the Droid Bionic and it has to be said that six months ago this would have been one of the best smartphones available on the market, however the seemingly never ending release date delays means that by the time it arrived the tech specs had already aged – that said the review is pretty positive.
You can see Engadget’s fully detailed review here, Engadget scored the Bionic 8/10 and complimented its vibrant screen, good performance and LTE connectivity – however they did say that it feels quite chunky and is a tad expensive.
Verizon Wireless will sell you the Droid Bionic for $299.99 as part of a two-year deal, now that price is at the top-end of any of today’s most impressive smartphones – the main problem is that there are now smartphones emerging with a 1.5GHz dual-core processors, this makes you feel as if you are paying over-the-odds for a 1GHz dual-core smartphone. The good news is that the general performance is great, but in the back of your mind you can’t help but think benchmark scores etc will be much the same on smartphones which cost you $100 less.
Engadget tested out the $300 Lapdock and say that it is a great idea and delivered pretty well, however on the whole it is an overpriced accessory – even when you take into account $100 saving which Verizon offer you with certain contract terms.
You should check out Engadget’s full review for full details regarding the Motorola Droid Bionic and the barrage of accessories available – the main issue is at the moment it seems great thanks to LTE, Gingerbread and performance – but the specs are soon to be obliterated by competition so it may just be worth saving your money and seeing if Verizon drop the Droid Bionic’s hefty price tag.
