Infinity Ward’s Creative Strategist, Robert Bowling (aka FourZeroTwo), has been using Twitter religiously to reveal details regarding Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, earlier today he confirmed that there will be a sneaky way to avoid Bouncing Betty deaths and in the past he told us there would be no Last Stand Perk, no currency system, C4 strapped dogs and new game modes – now we have confirmation of something else.
Recently FourZeroTwo was tweeted with a message which read “Looking forward to #MW3 ( even more than #BF3) – but I assume it won’t have splitscreen multiplayer online ( @fourzerotwo can’t confirm it”, which was a follow-up from another tweet he left saying “is there support for online splitscreen multiplayer? Love playing together with my wife” sure enough roughly 13 hours ago FourZeroTwo replied, he said:
Lots of, if not all, Call of Duty games have given gamers the option to play offline game modes using split screen, however Black Ops is arguably the best in terms of its online split screen multiplayer functionality – it looks like Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games have seen the success of online splitscreen multiplayer in Black Ops and jumped on the bandwagon – which is great.
To be honest with you I personally am not a huge fan of splitscreening, especially when playing first-person shooters, however it is nice when a friend or family member can come over and play certain games simultaneously so we are sure that this news will be welcomed by most people – that said some people do use splitscreen for boosting or “dirty tactics” so we are sure some people will be annoyed to hear this.
We would love to hear your opinion on this matter, are you happy to hear that online splitscreen multiplayer will be available in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3? Or do you think this is a mistake? Let us know in the comments section below.
