We have already seen some reported parts for the new iPhone emerge recently as we get nearer to the device being released. The last few days we have seen a number of reports concerning the iPhone 5 and the operating system it will be using. Now some leaked iPhone 5 cases point to a new form factor for the handset.
The latest third-party cases that are from the Far East show the iPhone 5 to be a thinner device that has a flat back with curved sides. They are available in a variety of colors and according to AppleInsider suggest that Apple has completely redesigned the iPhone 5.
This is not the first time that cases have popped up in the region; back in July we had reports of cases showing the iPhone 5 will be a sleeker thinner device. The latest cases seems to show that the mute button has been moved to the right hand side of the handset.
Previously all the other versions of the iPhone have the mute switch on the left just above the volume buttons. In a design similar to the iPad 2 the cases point to the iPhone 5 having curved sides, and level off to a flat back so the device will sit nicely when placed on a flat surface.
The volume buttons are more similar to the iPhone 3GS with an elongated shape, with the iPhone 4 having circular volume buttons. There are many similarities between the design of the new device with the iPod Touch 4G, except they show a headphone jack at the top and the moved mute button.
There have been numerous reports in the past claiming the iPhone 5 would have a pretty similar design to the present model. But these could be getting confused with the cheaper iPhone 4 version that has been rumored to be coming out. There will be many consumers who would like a slimmer device as long as it doesn’t affect battery life. Hit the link above to see more images of the cases.
