If you have been keeping up with the latest news regarding the highly anticipated release of Google’s next mobile operating system, you’ll know that it is due to arrive within the next few months. To get you warmed up for that, we have a concept Ice Cream Sandwich theme to show you which may or may not give an idea on how the final software will end up looking like.
As most of you will be aware, Ice Cream Sandwich is meant to be an amalgamation of both Android Gingerbread, the current version of mobile software, and also Android Honeycomb which so far has been reserved for tablet devices only. Now we have a treat for you, as although this probably isn’t anything close to what Ice Cream Sandwich will look like, a theme has been designed over at AndroidAtNight which is now available to download if you want to try out.
It is certainly a significant change to the current Gingerbread UI that we’re used to seeing, although some of you may feel that this looks too similar to Windows Phone 7 – again, this may not be a bad thing depending on your feelings towards Microsoft’s mobile OS. Below is a preview screenshot of the theme labelled NightUI so you can check it out before installing.
If you are interested in giving this a go, you can download it at this link and you won’t need a rooted handset to install which is handy. However, the install process seems a bit tedious so we only advise this if you have some spare time on your hands and know how to boot up a back up plan if anything goes wrong.
What are your thoughts on this concept theme – would you be happy if the final version of Ice Cream Sandwich looked a little bit like this?
