After an eternity of speculation and misleading release dates for the Droid Bionic, Verizon has finally ended the infamous Bionic release saga by releasing a teaser video which seemingly confirms the upcoming US release for the highly anticipated Android handset.
We say seemingly, as Verizon has interestingly decided to release this TV commercial for Korean consumers only. However, the video does clearly give the Motorola Droid Bionic a black and white launch date of Thursday September 8th, and considering that Verizon has often released handsets in the US on a Thursday too, it’s safe to assume that this September 8 date applies to US customers as well.
If this is true, it means that Bionic fans are just days away from finally picking up their prized asset after months and months of waiting, but considering the wait, we’re interested to know if the demand for the device is still there after Verizon’s much-criticized ‘delay tactics‘ which we’ve spoken about in the past.
The interest may have slowed down considerably for some smartphone hunters, especially with the iPhone 5 rumor mill well and truly in full force. It is looking very likely that Apple will also unveil their next generation iPhone device in September, although strangely we have not yet had any official details on an Apple event to showcase it which is obviously the usual practise.
Will the anticipation on the fact that the Bionic will be the first dual-core Android device to run on Verizon’s 4G LTE network be enough to part with your money, or does the iPhone 5 rocking upgraded specs and possibly an all-new design interest you more after increased speculation? It’s a difficult decision for sure and it’s one which is likely to come down to whether you prefer Android or iOS best.
The Bionic is coming on September 8th folks, just days away. Who is getting one or who believes the iPhone 5 will be the better choice out of the two handsets.
