By Updated on

Lately all we have been hearing about as far as Motorola is concerned, is their super smartphone, the Droid Bionic. The device has been written about for months and has proven to be very elusive but now has a release date and can be expected to grace our market next month. We have also just found out that this is not the only Motorola handset we can expect next month as the company will also launch the Fire smartphone.

Many analysts have considered the Fire to be Motorola’s answer to RIM’s BlackBerry. It is of course an Android OS device and according to the manufacturers it is aimed at a specific market that is those users who prefer having a QWERTY keypad as well as a touchscreen. It is also a lower budget smartphone for those that cannot afford the top of the range devices.

The main specs that we know of so far are; an impressive 1420mAh battery capable of 30 hours life when in standby and up to 8 hours of talk time, Motorola’s Switch user interface with work and play modes, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, a 3 megapixel rear-facing camera, dual-band HSDPA, a microSD slot, Wi-Fi, a QWERTY keypad and a 2.8” QVGA touchscreen display.

According to the reports from The Inquirer Motorola Mobility’s UK Marketing Director, Victoria McManus has expressed the company’s excitement about adding to their UK smartphone range saying ‘The device’s stylish design and its exciting and versatile social media applications will wow younger, tech-loving users.’

Next month promises to be an exciting time for those looking to buy a new smartphone, as there are several high-end devices expected to release including the iPhone 5, HTC EVO 3D and the Droid Bionic.
