It looks almost certain that Apple will be finally be launching the next iPhone in the coming weeks, and as we reported earlier looks set to be available on the Sprint network for the first time. Now there are predictions that Sprint and the iPhone 5 will help Apple to have the busiest holiday season ever.
With Sprint joining the iPhone party it could increase Apple’s sales of the device by a further 1.2 million units this year, and according to AppleInsider will result in the company having its strongest holiday quarter ever.
Sprint has around 52 million subscribers and this leads Maynard Um of UBS Investment Research, to believe apple could achieve the level of iPhone shipments. Um added “The company has increasingly moved away from the exclusive carrier model and has been using country and carrier expansion as one way to drive growth of its iPhone & iPad lines.”
Apple has continued to increase sales of the iPhone each quarter and have helped the company to achieve record profit levels. During its last financial quarter it sold record levels of the device with 20.23 million units shifted.
This trend is expected to continue during the upcoming holiday season led by the launch of the iPhone 5. This will be combined with the launch of iOS 5 and the new iCloud service alongside continued strong sales of the iPad and Mac computers. It is also thought by Maynard Um that a 3G iPad could also land on the Sprint network during next year.
Another analyst from Piper Jaffray, Gene Munster, believes that Sprint could manage around six million sales of the iPhone during 2012. This compares to AT&T shifting 3.6 million iPhones during the last fiscal quarter, while Verizon managed 2.3 million.
The iPhone 5 will likely prove to be the biggest success the company has seen since the iPhone was first released in 2007. The fact the device is landing on more networks and expanding into new markets will provide bigger revenue’s for Apple.
