The news that the HP TouchPad tablet was to be discontinued came as a bit of a shock, but what is even more surprising is its new $99 price tag. As you would imagine stores are now struggling to meet with demand, but there are still a few places that have these devices in stock. So here is a list of retailers that are still able to supply you with a TouchPad.
First up we need to inform you that the 16GB version will cost you $99 and the 32GB just $149. The main stockiest is Best Buy, as we can still see by the image below that they can still supply you with the HP tablet. This clearance price is not in conjunction with any other previous offer, but then again none of them ever offered you hundreds of dollars of the retail price.
IBT does not expect Best Buy to get any new stock in, but do not worry, as there are four other places where you can take advantage of the deal. The first is Barnes & Noble, who is currently selling the 16GB HP TouchPad for $102. Cost Central has it for $100 for the 16GB and $149.99 for the larger storage version. Texas Matrix has the best deal, $98.48 and $143.49, and these are also currently in stock.
eBay and Amazon has yet to pass on the full discount, prices are $235 and $269.99 respectively. It will be interesting to see how sales go with these discounted prices, because if there is a huge increase in sales then it shows that there was not an issue with the device itself, but the price structure. Seeing the downfall of the TouchPad and the PlayBook makes you winder why other brands are getting it so wrong, and Apple are getting it right?
Are you surprised that the HP TouchPad can be yours for under $100? Have you taken advantage of the offer?
Update: We are hearing that HP is to offer those who paid the full price the the TouchPad their money back – less the current $99 price. This is only for those who purchased the tablet from HP direct, but according to Liliputing, HP is asking retail partners such as Best Buy to do the same.
