Many PlayStation 3 owners not pre-ordering MW3

By Updated on

Last month we brought you the news that not many PS3 owners were placing preorders for Uncharted 3. Now in what could be a similar trend is the news that many PlayStation 3 owners are not preordering MW3 either.

According to an article on MSXBoxWorld, while many Xbox 360 owners are placing orders for Modern Warfare 3, it is not the case for owners of the PlayStation 3. Figures released for preorders for the week ending August 13th, MW3 preorders from PS3 owners hit 17,099. This is compared to 66,000 for owners of the Xbox 360.

Owners of the PlayStation 3 have some great titles coming up for the console including Uncharted 3. We have said before that many gamers are being savvier and waiting to see what deals could be had on launch day. Over the coming few months there are some great games coming out for both platforms, and gamers could be waiting for early reviews before deciding which games to buy.

There is also the small matter of Battlefield 3 releasing before MW3, which may have led to some people deciding to get MW3 later than usual. One thing is for sure, the more details of the game that become available make the anticipation for MW3 even higher.

Personally I don’t see what difference it makes which platform has the most preorders for a certain game. Gamers of both platforms will have their own views, and as long as they are happy with what they are planning with the MW3 release so what?

No matter what console you own the next few months in the lead up to Christmas promises to be a great time for gamers. The game doesn’t even come out until November so there is plenty of time for anyone to place a preorder.

There is also the fact that for many people at the moment money is tight, so deciding which game to buy will be even more difficult. It will sell like hot cakes on both platforms and will give the gaming industry a great financial boost.

Have you placed your preorder for MW3 yet?

Because you usually get cool stuff/bonuses for pre-ordering.

I haven’t pre-ordered any of them yet… Resistance 3 BETA on Aug 23, BF3 BETA in Sept, MW3 BETA? lol. I’ll wait until I play the betas before deciding anything on my next FPS purchase. BlOps was a huge disappointment on the PS3, which I think has scared many players away. Although I still play it, the matchmaking, hit detection and lag seem to get worse by the day. COD is the only game that seems to be able to get away with this crap almost one year after release…. and STILL have people buy DLC and support them.

It’ll more than likely be BF3 for me, with MW3 sometime down the road if I hear it runs good on the PS3 (ahem, no lag or frame-rate drops)

I totally agree… Any other FPS, or any other game actually, that has choppy frames per second, MP lag, no dedicated servers, unbalanced weapons, and poor hit detection is thrown in the trash. And rightly so. For some reason though, COD seems to be able to get away with it.. :S DICE and EA are getting my money this Fall; MW3 can wait til I see it half price somewhere, and only if my friends are playjng it.

    • iagree

That probably the only problem. That they dont beta test until it release date beside the fact they did it at the COD:XP. The main reason people bought the DLC is because of the zombies (that also why many people bought it). Now it released an all zombies maps which I won’t get because of a stupid one month wait contact with xbox vs PC and PS3, Sept 23, is like 9 week from MW3 release date. I played a MW2 demo but still didnt get the game because my ps3 broke. Now I got a PS3 silm with Move and yet early in the year the game would freeze now it dont but people are using lag to kill…

  • thx

I think the reason it’s lower on PS3 is because Black Ops was a huge lag and bug fest while on Xbox 360 it worked just fine. So I think a lot of PS3 gamers are worried the same thing will happen again and they’re not taking any chances.

im a PS3 owner, and i owned black ops.i never had any lagg or bug problem playing online, the reason im not pre-ordering mw3 is because there are more than 10 better games coming out this fall than mw3

    • Winkdink12

You must be using an ethernet cord. Lately though, BLOPS has had exponentially less lag, making it much more enjoyable. Until I get blasted by Le Uber Famas. Ima laugh in MW3 they all run to the Famas, think it’s full-auto, WTF! 3-round burst?!?!? HAX!

I haven’t preordered yet on ps3 either. I’m planning on preodering bf3 for ps3, mw3 for 360 and two copies of mw3 for ps3 (one for me and my brother). Gamestop let’s me pay a little every week (or whoever I want really) until release so that’s why I always preordered in the past. The reason I haven’t preordered yet is because I’m trying to save up for a down payment on a truck. Anyways I believe many ps3 owners feel kinda burned because the ps3 version of bo was horrible at the start and barely (at least for me) got any better. Not too mention 360 owners always get dlc first I think ps3 owners are getting burned out. I haven’t noticed too much because I own both consoles but I do believe sometimes ps3 owners get the shaft. Peace

I pre-ordered but i’m just a fan of Modern Warfare in general. I like the storyline and have enjoyed multi-player up until the point of hackers. Black Ops was over hyped and i’m sure many people thought it was gonna be amazing but it only sounded amazing. The problem i run into everysingle day and i’m not even kidding is people using lag-switches. the PSN never does anything about it. I hear on 360 they do sh!z about it. If the PSN was ever hacked or had a major issue again i’ll highly consider becoming a PC gamer. people go where the numbers go, and that would be on xbox 360. anyways, i can agree to many people here as to why no ones pre-ordering PS3 games. and if not that, maybe Call of duty is getting the “guitar hero syndrome”. They were on a rampage of releasing GH games so often and it just seemed like there was too many GH titles in a 3 year span. SO, Cod could maybe just be getting old? I think a good mix would be MW2;s physics and Halos low gravity {lol} with Battlefields large maps> oh and Halos health so its more of a challenge. Cod kills are too easy. I dunno anyone agree?

I refuse to preorder something in good faith when the developer is just going to up and abandon another title in favor of Treyarch’s next project. These back and forth release have proven that unless some serious development and resources are spent developing a game instead of marketing it, you’ll get either marginal visual improvements, broken gameplay, the same gameplay, general performance issues such as lag or glitches, or a combination of those that show how half assed the game really is.

I don’t see the point in pre-ordering mw3, it’s cheaper on the midnight release in the UK& the retailers have literally hundreds of copies to sell @ midnight, so I haven’t pre ordered mw3, I will get it on midnight release by purchasing it from my local retailers at about £5-7 pounds off!

I’ve ore ordered Batman Arkham City because My local retailer are offering their bonus pre order content WHICH ROCKS

  • Chrispatriots24

The black Los bug thing is probably the reason. Alot of people also wait to see what the collector editions have to offer like me.

The truth of the matter is this: The company created an engine, which they then used over and over and over and over again, to make millions. It’s the same game with a few different textures, refinements, and it’s  not really fair to ask people to pay $59.99 + Tax for the same game you played last year, and the year before, and the year before. I stopped buying CoD games three years ago.

The same applies to Street Fighter 4. They make a few changes, add characters (“unlock” them is more accurate) and keep changing the title, Super Street Fighter 4, Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade, what’s next? Ultimate Super Awesome Street Fighter 4 Arcade Jizz Edition (Now with 2 new characters!).

The games industry is going downhill, quick, with greed leading more of the decision making and less creativity.

I like how you’ve apparantly not purchased a call of duty title in three years yet still somehow feel experienced enough with the franchise to not only know the ins and outs of the previous three games (which according to you you’ve not actually owned) but also allows you some kind of sixth sense relating to the next game. I know it’s the “cool” thing for edgey e-maniacs to slam on cod, but honestly you’re talking absolute balls. WaW felt nothing like mw2, which in turn felt and played nothing like black ops. Speaking of engines, do you have any idea how many games were made on the unreal 3 engine? I’m sure they’re all bad rehashes too though right?

^^^Guy is part of the rare, and seldom seen, internet user with the weapon proficiency of:Focus! Actually being able to complie an edgy, smart, and calculated post! KUDOS! Btw, MW3 has weapon proficiencies, which are unlocked via challenge, focus is an actual proficiency, which reduces flinch when shot. If you had paid attention in the XP tournaments, it is a very evident feature. Yes, I feel all games are a little too expensive. I want ALL of these games, but could probably only afford two, or one collectors edition. Has BenGoshi even see the difference of MW2 and MW1 ghillies. MW1 makes you look like a big green turd. Litterally. The textures on MW1 are NOTHING like MW2. E-drop makes a return. This time with an AI controlled CG to protect them.

Only if we know what was really going on behind codmw3. What makes me laugh is that people judge call of duty with no evidence. All they talk about is graphics and engine not changing. Ok, do you work in the company, I don’t think so. Look at the trailer, you might say this looks the same as mw2. But behind the screens I bit a lot has been improved. Those game designers aren’t getting bad for noting. Bf3 is just like a bench player in basketball, while Mw3 is like Micheal Jorden setting records. Now Bf3 all I can say is great work on graphics, but don’t push it. Infinity Ward and activition got money. You push them to much and they might just bring out the Tommy guns and blow all those wack battlefield games to the trash, SEE YAY!

  • Davemisiaczuk94

i will as well…just havent yet…but people should get both

as much as i would like , im not impressed with overall gameplay with MW3 looks to much like mw3

Battlefield has had me excited since this year began… so i just cant wait for that.

financially people have little money with too much on offer with games.
    i mean
    AC3
    BF3
    MW3
    UNCHARTED3
    SKYRIM
    RESISTANCE 3
    BATMAN akrham city

    ……………..

  • Mw3 and BF3 fanboy

There is too much game the is wanted this year like MW3, U3, Assassin Creed Revalation, BF3. Plus, there is some uncertainly about the CoD: Elite. People want to wait till other to give reviews. There might be a spike as we get closer but BF3 is starting a war against MW3….
