As we near the rumored September release time frame for the next iPhone, the rumor mill has kept on going flat out. Yesterday we had reports that carriers were already testing iPhone devices that contained 4G LTE technology. Now today we have some iPhone 5 release rumors, and more evidence the device may have 4G LTE compatibility.
First up Engadget have been sent an image which is allegedly from an Apple retail store showing 4G LTE equipment that has been installed by AT&T. The image was sent in by an anonymous tipster, and it shows that one piece of it supports only the 700MHz and AWS bands. This is what AT&T are planning to use for its network if the purposed acquisition of T-Mobile gets the go ahead.
It is also claimed that the Apple Store where the equipment is located, as well as those in the region are currently on recruitment drive. The stores are trying to increase staffing levels by thirty percent and have nothing to do with the usual holiday season push.
This may not have anything to do with the next iPhone but Apple’s Tim Cook has already said the company will be experiencing a major product transition next month. There have also been reports the next iPhone won’t be released until October. This could be true with the handset being revealed to the world next month before it hits the shelves.
But it would be surprising if Apple showcased its plans for the iPhone and made consumers wait until the following month to get their hands on it. Meanwhile MacRumors are showing some alleged iPhone parts that show the handset to be coming in both black and white.
The parts on display reportedly show headphone jacks for the next device, which in the past have always matched the color of the handset they were for. Hit the link above to see the parts for yourself. There have been claims recently that Apple will be holding a special press event on September 7, and could also see a refresh for the iPod range.
