Grand Slam Tennis 2: EA confirms new Xbox 360 / PS3 game

By Updated on

It looks as though the Top Spin and Virtua Tennis video game series are going to be faced with some stiff competition very soon, as EA Sports – the developers behind other popular series such as FIFA, PGA Tour and Madden NFL – has just announced the upcoming Grand Slam Tennis 2 game, which is due to arrive for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2012.

According to a recent article over on the videogamer.com website by James Orry, the forthcoming Grand Slam Tennis 2 game – which features all four Grand Slam Championships – will come complete with PlayStation Move support. However, there has been no word from EA Sports on whether or not the game will feature support for the Kinect.

Thanks to the total racquet control, Grand Slam Tennis 2 players will be given the ability to control every shot they make with the right analogue stick. They can then use this innovative control system to take their game right to the top. Capture all four major tennis tournaments (including Wimbledon) in succession in order to become a true Grand Slam champion.

The Grand Slam Tennis 2 game will enable gamers to play with or against over 20 of the greatest players to ever grace the courts including Maria Sharapova, Serena Williams, Bjorn Borg, Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Venus Williams and Novak Djokovic. It will even let you play as or against seventeen-time Grand Slam tournament winner John McEnroe.

Another great thing about the Grand Slam Tennis 2 game is the fact that it captures both the playing styles and the behaviors of the greatest stars, from their signature swings right down to their emotional reactions. The much-anticipated game will also enable players to relive some of the most memorable moments in tennis history.

Not only will the Grand Slam Tennis 2 game enable you to play through a 10-year career, it also allows you to play against others online. Although we haven’t got a specific release date for you as of yet, we do know that the game will be arriving sometime next year. We’ve embedded the trailer below this post.
