New Twitter Activity stream, introduction and your opinions

By Updated on

Two days ago we told you about Twitter.com’s new feature which allows you to add an image to your tweets, today if you login to Twitter you may notice a new feature called Activity, this is a new stream which shows in place of where Retweets used to show – today we will take a brief look at this feature and ask our readers whether they like it. There has also been a slight change to how you can see @ mentions, retweets and favorites etc.

When you log into Twitter you may not initially notice the changes, however the image below shows how there have been some slight changes made. Firstly when selecting which streams you want to see there you still the Timeline, searches, and lists but ‘@Mentions’ has been replaced by ‘@jam1epert’ and ReTweets” has been replaced by ‘Activity’.

Let’s start by talking about the new Activity stream, when you click on this you see a great deal of information from the people you follow on Twitter. If someone you follow retweets something, favorites something or adds new followers you see this all in an intuitive way (you can see an image which shows this in full at the bottom of the page). We like this as it should promote people to follow more people etc.

When I click on @jam1epert it shows me all of my tweets which have been favorited, who has retweeted my tweets and my new followers. Not only this but but you see tweets which are directed at you. This is great as you get to see what your followers like you tweeting about.

Whilst writing this brief article I have to admit that I forgot about the old layout, which surely means that the new streams are a huge success – I for one love it do you? If your Twitter home page does not show the new streams let us know in the comments section below.
