GTA 5 needs destruction and cheats

By Posted 8 Aug 2011, 01:13

Now it’s known that GTA 5 will not release this year we can only think about what we want in the next installment, and this is just what thousands of gamers are doing on a daily basis. Some of the ideas being shared are obvious, while others are extremely inventive.

Grand Theft Auto is much more than a car game but better car physics is needed to help with improved drifting, and a better range of cars would also be a welcomed improvement. We’ve already heard about the potential of the PS4 and Xbox 720, which are expected within the next few years, and some claims have pointed to pedestrian having their own personality in games. While we don’t expect this level of detail in the PS3 or Xbox 360 version of GTA 5, it would be nice to have more pedestrian actions like getting drunk, using cell phones, etc.

Two of the most needed features for GTA 5, in our opinion, are destruction and cheats. First up is cheats, having played GTA 4 for hundreds of hours it’s obvious that cheats add another layer to GTA. Entering a code into the cell phone and gaining access to all the weapons, or a helicopter let’s the player take on another world of flying around and becoming a sniper on top of high buildings that took a helicopter to reach. The next version of Grand Theft Auto needs cheats again, but also with some more innovative items that could include diggers, JCBs, remote control planes with guns, parachutes, gunships etc. Feel free to share your ideas on better cheats for GTA 5 to add a totally new gaming experience.

Pair the above with a destructible environment in GTA 5 and you’ve really got something special. Imagine taking out buildings with diggers, piece-by-piece, and blowing parts of buildings away with rocket launches or a gunship/helicopter. Give us a lot more buildings to enter with small things to do in them like robbing, and maybe add some C4, then you could even blow a building up and bring the whole thing down. Bullet holes need to appear on buildings with a bigger range of guns to include fun things like Tasers. It’s the little things as well that count for making everything feel more realistic, like making better recycle bins with wheels and waste inside, or certain areas need to be more crowded with people like airports. I’m sure you can think of a few “little things” that would improve the game massively.

This may seem a bit much to some gamers, but GTA is all about freedom to do almost anything, and the power of the PS3/Xbox 360 is more than capable to bring all of this to the table via cheats and destruction.

Other than a new set of missions, adding destruction will make everything feel more realistic and add that cool factor. If this was added I would gladly pay a lot more for the game. Let us know in the comments below, the cheats you would love and if GTA needs destruction in your opinion.

Eh, I’m not so sure what you’re looking for is entirely possible on the current gen of systems coupled with the complexity of the GTA series.  Environmental destruction, and bullet impacts can get pretty taxing system-wise and the GTA games already have loads of things going on in the background.  Don’t get me wrong, destructions allot of fun, but destruction may impact the game in other ways we aren’t willing to sacrifice, not to mention a redesign of the current engine (Likely).  My guess is we’ll have to wait for the next engine from Rockstar, before we’ll see building destruction.  So, 1 or 2 iterations from now, most likely.

On the topic of driving, I’m not sure if you noticed, but they definitely improved upon vehicle physics from San Andreas to GTAIV, the difference was pretty noticeable actually.  Remember how you could literally drive up the corner of a wall on a motorcycle just to jump a fence in Vice City/SA?  Not possible anymore, granted, there’s room for improvement still, but I personally want to see them adding more detail to the game itself, like they did from GTA3 to Vice City to San Andreas, know what I mean?  Not just more things to drive, or more weapons, but also more side stuff.  Certainly more collectibles.  I’d love to see the Jet Packs make a return, planes also.

What I’d really like to see though is GTA becoming international, like, multi-state takeovers.  Miami, New York, Chicago etc… basically the point of the game is solidifying yourself as the biggest syndicate boss on the Eastern Seaboard, or something like that.  In the very least it’d make it tons longer, and give you reasons to own an airport, which would also be slick.  Get to the point where you control small armies, have police precincts on your payroll etc…  It could be pretty interesting.

As for cheats, meh, never really had use of them myself.  Everything you get with cheats is usually pretty easy to obtain, not to mention it screws up 100% runs (if you save it).  So, I honestly never used them even when they were available.  But, I don’t object to them, as long as using them removes your chances for gaining 100% on that playthrough heh.

GTA 5 needs all that stuff and someone like niko belic in the next installment, he was likeable and fun to play as hell i’d be awesome if he was in the GTA 5. and another feature would be even more and better cheats.

    • John

No no no – Niko was a good character but not great as the main character!! He doesn’t even bloody find who he’s looking for! Gimmie CJ or Tommy Vercetti ANY DAY!!

      • Anonymous

Tommy Vercetti, all the effin way.  I liked Niko, and CJ was definitely a solid character, don’t get me wrong…but there’s just something about Ray Liotta as Tommy Vercetti that’s just _awesome_.  Vice City is still my favorite GTA game, by far.

More aerial vehicles. That was one of my favorite things about San Andreas, and IV didn’t seem to have as many. And I always thought a ‘zombie’ cheat would be fun and add a different twist to gameplay ie; crowds of zombies clamoring to get at you as you gun them down and run like hell, be able to sneak around them as long as you’re careful not to get in their sight or be too loud, and background effects such as survivor AI reacting to and fighting off the zombies, with you able to join in their firefight to help ward them off.

  • Mattea

I agree partially.  I definitely don’t think that current gen consoles could handle a huge dense environment like the one in GTA4 and add destruction into the mix.  I see what your saying though and definitely want GTA to incorporate destruction eventually.  I think it would be more interesting to see rockstar push the pedestrian A.I. really far.  I could see rockstar producing the first game that could actually evoke guilt after killing some innocent pedestrian, think about the implications on the person who plays through that experience.  Imagine A.I.’s that group together like families or couples.  Also giving more distinct homes and buildings to enter would be an even deeper level of immersion.  In regards to cheats I would love to see them bring back some physics based cheats.  Like flying cars from GTA3.  One of the best parts about the GTA series in my opinion is manipulating the A.I. and seeing how far you can push things.  I would love to see the cheat pedestrians riot come back.  Spawning wars on the fly is amazing, let alone with all the new realistic physics with the euphoria engine.  Also incorporate more things like being able to call the police on someone shooting at you and watch them get into a shoot out with the police.  Lastly, and the one that probably makes me come across the most psychopathic, I want gore back.  If rockstar is pushing GTA in the more realistic direction, and as far as I know, in real life when someone is struck by a dump truck going 70mph, they explode.  And If it’s possible, to make the absolute best GTA ever, a theatre mode.  With a couple little editing abilities.

interesting article.. I don’t think the 360 and PS3 could cope with a massive level of destruction, but I guess it could be done to a certain level. What R* needs to do is get a decent game out with some improvements and some of the good aspects of Red Dead Redemption, and leave some of the new high tech features to the next consoles… What I personally wanna see is a nice city like Vice City (very biased as it’s my favourite game), a better main character without a silly accent or a chip on his shoulder, a story of revenge that starts with the character being at the top of his game but who then has to work his way up again because he’s been betrayed (that way you could include the desert/forest on the map where he goes on hiding). The story is crucial for me because it’s what gets you in the game and past the usual drive from A to B and steal/kill/beat up person x. Make more responsive AI and more realistic scenarios; if you walk in a dangerous part of town at night you may get attacked, some criminals may recognise you because you still carry your past reputation, use the random events from RDR ro spice things up. Set up a wanted level like ACII and Hitman: Blood Money because it makes no sense that nobody recognises you after killing 25 people in Burger Shot and speeding off on a bike, but obviously allow the player to erase the wanted level by paying/bribing/killing. Revamp the cover and shooting system and add stealth kills (nothing over the top, but give some good military training to the main character, like neck snapping, knifing etc.). Lastly use the Downloadable content option a lot more! Let people download new vehicles, weapons, weapon attachments (silencers, red dots, grenade launchers etc), clothes, small mission packs that are irrelevant to the main story (like killing contracts etc), and big mission packs like GTA IV Episodes from Liberty City, and a zombie mode as the one for RDR, can you imagine walking around a city looking like New York from ‘I Am Legend’ and having to kill loads of zombies, pretty cool uh? R* can do a lot, but they always seem to hold back with GTA as if they were scared of giving us too much. With RDR they showed they have great ideas, so use those ideas and frankly if you are going to release a GTA evey 3 or 4 years you need to prolong the life cycle of the game with DLC, as you can’t expect us to go looking for pigeons for 4 years, or seagulls for that matter…

PS3 can deal – Xbox cannot! Haven’t you learned anything u nitwit? Comparing the xbox with a wii is closer than comparing with a ps3!

      • Anonymous

You know, while I agree there’s more computational power inside the PS3 (on paper), the 360 is miles above the Wii, and honestly, you know that.  Don’t be silly.

The only way to truly make a GTA game for the PS3 and 360, is to make two completely separate games.  Exclusives _always_ look and perform better, than multi-platform games, always.  Unfortunately, because GTA is so popular, that will simply never happen, R* stands to miss out on too much money if they were to do it that way.

GTA ALREADY has cheats u idiot, why would they take that away? And GTA does NOT need destruction! IF they added that in, that could change the whole face of the game! What if you destroy a building that you need to by later, or do a mission in? Waht if you destroy a house that houses your next contract? Think before you write! The next GTA only needs ONE thing; for it NOT to be GTAIV!! Simple as!

    • Westonvidaurri

Maybe make buildings that arnt mission related be able to be destroyed or the buildings will be back after a while

  • Rickmadnuta

i don’t think cheats should be in any game but destruction on a GTA game is a must not on a massive scale but at least have wood that brakes like wood and glass that actually brakes unlike a lot of the fences and glass that is impossible to brake in GTAIV. it would be nice to have a train you can actually drive and walk around on and say have a gun fight with another online player whilst it moves in online modes the train tracks on GTAIV online are so empty and maybe have a large transport ship that actually moves as well. for me the online free rome is more important than the story as online will be whats played more.

Your Stupid Because What If A little kid plays and dies so they should make a inviable to bullets and cars and bombs

      • Anonymous

No ‘little kid’ should EVER be playing GTA.  Never.  There is absolutely no reason for it whatsoever.  I’ve actually had conversations with psychologists who used GTA as a tool for them to learn how inner-city children view gang violence et al.  And I was absolutely floored by that.  GTA glorifies gang life, without a doubt.  And allowing children access to such a game is beyond irresponsible.

Why are you against cheats? Pretty easy to disable achievements and stuff so it’s only for extra random fun, sometimes you get bored of trying a cool stunt but getting shot in the face by police. There’s plenty of competition too from things like just cause where you can grappling hook to a plane and steal it. Cheats are the only way to please both the old gta crazy fun fans and the new gta gritty realism fans.

  • Anonymouse

I think that a good feature that can be added to the game is offline multiplayer with all the same features that are offered online. Many people want to play this game with others but don’t have online access. If there is offline multiplayer, players can get upto 4 players on one xBox and play together. Since consoles can’t take the load of creating map for more than one person while they are in different places, a feature can be added that would allow the players to move away from each other only to a certain extent, just like San Andreas. That would be a geat feature. I think the sales would increase too if there is offline multiplayer. I think destruction would be a great idea. People will only destroy buildings if they don’t want to do missions. So there won’t be any problem with missions.

i think Grand Theft Auto V needs a range of things to make it great…..GTA IV was awesome but it gets boring, i never played it anywhere near as much as i played San Andreas and that’s mainly because when GTA moved to next gen it toned down the comedic style which made it so great, it became gritty and more realistic in many ways…..leading me to miss the fountain of blood spraying from the necks of pedestrians when you decapitate them. i think that cheats should, like in GTA games prior to IV, be used as a wacky escape from the realistic tone….if you want a serious game use basic weapon cheats….if you want crazy fun, use, for example, the cars can fly cheat.
On another point, although many hardcore GTA fans will disagree that there is any competition, the new Saints Row game is shaping up to be everything i missed or wanted from GTA, and so i think Rockstar needs to step it up as Saints Row, cheap and unpolished as it may look in comparison to GTA, is really growing and people who miss the fun side of GTA are now turning to Saints Row, the self proclaimed guilty pleasure of gaming. Also, to compete with other games like Saints Row, GTA V needs customization, the ability to pimp out your car, or at least actually choose what colour you want at a Pay n’ Spray. Further character editing would be nice too, as shown in San Andreas, like being able to change hairstyle, wide range of clothing and tattoos and so on.
I 100% agree that driving physics need to be reworked and that destructive environments would completely change the playing field.
A final point I want to add for online play is to better populate the map, more times than enough I find myself in the middle of Star Junction with not a person nor car in sight, simply because the other players are at the airport. This isn’t a constant issue, but when it does happen I feel like the dude from I am legend :L

  • BIGB

IT SHOULD BE ABLE TO LET YOU SAY STUFF TO YOUR HEAD SET SO THE CARICTOR SAY SOME THING

  • Cudijunior

i hate how th police always ram you and never give you a chance to surrender(i wouldnt but id pretend i would to trick them). i also want parachutes that are accessable . building destruction is very important it adds to realism. jets should also be accessable. we should also see a whole new town and a larger city.

  • Ethancroft

Let us add our own radio stations, so add our own music from the hard drive! And floods, disasters that cause devastation! More interior in buildings. Tbh, GTA4′s map was too big, if they cut down it a tiny bit, that could mean more features? Proper car crashes where cars would fly all over the place like real life if you hit them. Planes for sure. Oh, and riot mode definitely! Less glitches, better graphics. I’d always play GTA if it was like that!

    • Ethancroft

Oh, and I think you should be able to hijack trains and planes. Get plane tickets to the other side of the city and take over the plane, that’d be amazing. But I’d just look a tsunami! People running away from a big wave, it could be a cheat, then just cancel it when your done! And a beach, with loads of people sunbathing and you run them over with a quad bike!! :L

Destruction is impossible to do. Red:faction guerilla managed to have its destructibility by having a setting that was sparse in buildings and not very complicated. It would also exponentially increase the texture creation workload which for a GTA game is enormous already.

  • Brad

They need to bring back the kill frenzys

  • Jake

I liked the customization of cars in San Andreas. But it was only street racers or low riders, they should bring back jeeps and add more trucks and lift kits, rims, mud tires, roll bars, and the option to use the the flood lights instead it just being cosmetic. As far as destructible buildings they should start on a small scale in gta5 like small houses so that in gta6 they can have most the bugs worked out and have destruction with all buildings.

If Rockstar was looking at these comments i would ask them to please change parking spots back to garages, cause probably everyone knows about the cars deleting itself (sometimes) when you load the game and go outside and see your very rare care gone and can’t get it back.
