Fake iPhone 5 model will give you nightmares

By Alan Ng - Aug 3, 2011

Although we have had plenty of speculation so far on what the new iPhone 5 device from Apple will look like, it’s probably a good thing that we have yet to see an official design. We have a few images of a fake iPhone 5 model to show you now, and we’re praying that the real device will not look anything like these pictures.

As you might have guessed, the origin of this counterfeit is none other than Shenzhen in China as photos appear to suggest that the iPhone 5 will look very similar to the iPhone 4, but with a few notable differences. The Shenzhen version of the iPhone 5 features a more curved design approach to the device, with a curved trim replacing the aluminium trim seen on the iPhone 4. The volume rocker is still located in the same place, while the camera and flash sensors on the back are still located in the same positioning as the iPhone 4, despite heavy speculation that the iPhone 5 would be featuring an 8 megapixel camera.

Below is a picture of the device in question, provided to us by GizChina via MacRumors. Take a look at it for yourself and you’ll see why we suggest that it will give anyone nightmares if the real iPhone 5 turned out to be anything like this model.

As for the Apple’s official iPhone 5, signs are still pointing to a release sometime in September after their Fall event. Dates for this event are unknown at the moment though, so we could still be in for some twists and turns yet. If you’re interested in viewing more photos of the KIRF iPhone 5, you’ll find them in the link provided above.

In the meantime, tell us how you would like the iPhone 5 to look like from a design point of view. Are you happy retaining the core elements of the iPhone 4, or are you hoping for a radical design overhaul?
