If you need a tablet with fast data connectivity in the U.S. Verizon Wireless’ 4G LTE network paired with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 should be top of your list, recently Engadget ran some speed tests and it has to be said that the results were nothing short of astonishing.
Engadget used Speedtest.net to test out the connection and they were not disappointed, we have embedded an image below which shows just how fast speeds were and it is pretty mind-blowing. Results varied, however on average ping times were lower than 70ms, as for speeds download speeds of around 28Mbps and upload speeds of around 8Mbps were frequent. In one of the tests the Galaxy Tab 10.1 delivered 44.44Mbps down and 9.39Mbps up.
When compared to 4G smartphones the Galaxy Tab 10.1′s 4G antenna seemed to connect at a much faster rate, one example of this is the HTC Thunderbolt, this maxed out at 21.77Mbps down, therefore when compared to the Tab 10.1′s top speed it would be fair to say that at times the tablet’s 4G antenna connects at double the rate of the Thunderbolt, as Engadget point out this puts most cable modems to shame.
One thing which we must remember is that speed tests and benchmarks do not always tell the whole story, luckily Engadget tested out web browsing speeds and the Verizon Galaxy Tab 10.1 did not disappoint. Even with Flash content the tablet loaded sites just as quickly as a Thinkpad – neat eh?
You can see full details via Engagdet, please remember speeds will vary depending on coverage in your area and how many Verizon 4G customers are local to you, we think that it is fair to say that unless you have no coverage in your area the Verizon Galaxy Tab 10.1 will be hard to beat.
If you own the 4G LTE Galaxy Tab 10.1 feel free to run the speed test and post the results in the comment section below, please remember to state where you are from so we can see how good Verizon’s coverage is in different regions. Have Engadget’s results convinced you to by this tablet?
