While the Samsung Galaxy S II sells like hot cakes in some parts of the world, consumers in the US are still waiting for the handset to land. The device has become the fastest selling Samsung handset ever, and will likely sell more than the successful original version. Luckily for consumers in the US it looks like the release is getting closer. Now we have news that Verizon get first dibs on the Samsung Galaxy S II, as info page goes live.
The handset is gaining a lot potential customers thanks to its impressive looks and specifications, and finally the waiting could soon be over. Asad Rafi over at Android Guys is reporting in an article that the handset was already tipped for release in August by Samsung. Now an analyst Paul Mueller is claiming that the handset will be available first on Verizon with August 12th a possibility.
The date is not definite but it is thought that the other major carriers will also get the handset within a month. He also added the Galaxy S II will be marketed by the company directly at the iPhone 5 which is also believed to be releasing around the same time. Yesterday we told you that AT&T will be getting two versions of the handset, one of which will have a slide out QWERTY keyboard.
It is not yet known if Verizon will be getting a similar line up of the Galaxy S II, and many may want to get their hands on the white version which is coming to the UK next month. Meanwhile the sign up page we told you about yesterday has now gone live. Kevin Krause of Phandroid is reporting that you will get updates about the device once you have entered your details.
To sign up you just enter your name, email, phone number, and which carrier you want it on you will get updates sent directly to you. This will be welcome news for consumers who are not waiting for the iPhone 5, but the two handsets are likely to be top of many people’s wish lists.
