5 tweaks and improvements for Batman: Arkham City

How many comic book based games can you say you are looking forward to this year, we bet you can count them just on one hand? We do know something though, Batman: Arkham City will be top of the list and for good reason. Its predecessor was considered to be a fine game, and there is no reason why this new version will be any different. However, there are a few areas where it needs to be improved, so here we have 5 tweaks and improvements for you.

These were not hard to find, as Megabits of Gaming soon discovered. The first thing wished for is “Discreet Detecting.” This follows a small issue with Batman: Arkham Asylum and how you did not feel the need to exit from infrared detective mode. There were loads of players who wanted too, but it was just not appealing enough.

The second is “Mental Agility.” The way in which our Dark Knight did his detective work was looking for clues by basically doing a lot of walking, which is a bit lame when you think about it. It is hoped that this new version will allow Batman to use his brain, much like Sherlock Holmes and try to solve crimes like he did.

Batman: Arkham City is not just based on an island, but as it says, the entire city. This means that it would not be practical to go around on foot; so using some of Batman’s larger vehicles is a must. Just think how awesome it would be to take the controls of a Batcopter or Batplane? This is certainly one area that needs to be explored.

Now how would you like a playable co-op version of the game? The way in which this would work is two players work in unison to get through certain stages of a level. You could both go on the offensive, or one does all the fighting while the other works out how to get out of there. There are so many scenarios that we could come up with, that we would be here all night listing them.

The final wish is to make certain combination moves a little simpler. The idea of these special moves is to deal a lethal blow to your opponent, but it would be nice to be able to do it more out of chance. Maybe the developer could make it so you do not have to do around 8 combo moves to achieve these, even Mortal Kombat 9 is not that hard?

With just three months to go you do not have that long to see if Rocksteady Studios has listened.

Not the best suggestions. Having the batmobile/batwing in there would make the game incredibly broken(why bother fighting? Hop in the batmobile and drive away from the enemies). They have in fact altered detective mode a bit, muddying the visuals even more, making you need to quit out of it to actually see where you are going better(plus playing through all of the game in the improved version of detective mode would make for a soulless experience). Random criticals are in the game, though instead of killing the enemy outright they damage a particular part of their body(head, arm etc.) thus “critically” injuring it. They decided to not do co-op/multiplayer to focus on improving the quality of the overall single player story. Why force co-op anyway? If you have no one to play with you would be stuck with a substandard AI partner

I agree with the whole detective mode business and as of E3 they have shown that they are fixing that. It would be nice to have some more cerebral puzzles other than; look at pipe, scan pipe, follow tobaco… ¬_¬

The whole batmobile and co-op ideas are a bit crap, in face I cant think of anything more annoying then trying to rack up a decent combo with some doit blundering in and ruining it, especialy one who finds it hard to reach 8. And even more so if they are just going to run me over in the batvan or something.
My main concern with the last game were his feet, they were just so small, you dont notice it until he kicks down a grate but then it just looks weird, like he has tiny child feet or something.
Oh and if they could jazz the boss battles up a lil, that would be nice too :)
