Jurassic Park 4 the game wish list, ideas from previous games

By Jamie Pert - Jul 26, 2011

Recently at Comic-Con 2011 Steven Spielberg confirmed that a writer was currently working the story for Jurassic Park 4, the movie, we are excited about this and think that 3D mixed with Jurassic Park would be a great combination, however it got us thinking about a possible Jurassic Park 4 video game, today we will look into the possibilities which such a title could bring to a current / next gen console.

As you are probably aware it has already been revealed that episodic Jurassic Park releases will hit both Xbox 360 and PS3 starting later this year, however with JP4 roughly 2 to 3 years away we think that a coinciding game release will skip the PS3 and Xbox 360 and instead land on next-gen consoles such as the Wii U, PS4 and Xbox 720.

There is a just that Jurassic Park 4 the video game could be developed in a similar style to the episodic releases, however we think that it is about time that we were treated to a fresh Jurassic Park gaming experience which sets itself apart from previous games, there are a few ways in which this could be achieved, below we will introduce you to a few of our ideas and ask you for yours.

Firstly we think that the Jurassic Park gameplay trailer looks way to slow and linear, also it is rare these days for a non-RPG to succeed without an online aspect, therefore the next game needs to tick these boxes whilst deliver superb visuals (perhaps in 3D). We don’t think a theme park game like Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis will work, but think things could be learned by looking at the Dino Crisis games which we saw do very well on the original PlayStation.

When playing Dino Crisis it was clear that the game was developed by the same guys who were behind the Resident Evil franchise, Capcom. I have fond, yet vague, memories of the game yet distinctly remember how it cleverly used its soundtrack and dark environments to build a eerie atmosphere, we think that Jurassic Park 4 the game could learn from this, what do you think?

Dino Crisis was a survival horror video game, because of the fact that the Jurassic Park movies appeal to such an age range we do not think that the JP4 game can fall into the horror video game genre, that said we do think that a light-hearted horror feel could do well.

We would love to your ideas about a possible Jurassic Park 4 game, we feel that there are so many directions which the game could take, therefore feel free to share your ideas in the comments section below.
