For a long while now we have suggested that the 5th generation iPhone wouldn’t arrive until September this year, yesterday two articles which were posted on BGR seemingly confirmed that the iPhone 5 release date is set for September 2011.
Obviously this post heavily depends on the legitimacy of BGR’s articles (which can be seen here and here), one article talks about how Apple is recruiting staff for U.S. Apple Store locations, whilst the other says that AT&T may have tipped off employees ahead of a big upcoming launch.
Not only is Apple recruiting new staff, but BGR also suggest that Apple is asking former employees to return as part time workers between August 15th and September 15th, this is so they can assist with “holidays, new product launches and back to school time”. Does this mean that the iPhone 5 is scheduled to arrive prior to September 15? Your guess is as good as ours, previously we have seen the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th generation iPod Touch arrive in early September, perhaps this suggests that Apple will unveil the 5th-gen iPod Touch and 5th-gen iPhone at the same time, that would be neat. If the 5th-gen iPod Touch is unveiled don’t be too surprised if the new iPod Nano model makes an appearance at the same time.
As with all Apple product launches details are scarce, however we think that Apple’s iPhone 4 now heavily lags behind lots of smartphones which have arrived throughout the last 6 months, also with new BlackBerry launches coming soon and the Droid Bionic not too far away we think that Apple’s iPhone 5 has to arrive sooner rather than later, otherwise we might see people jump ship to Android, BlackBerry OS or WP7 devices.
We are going to go out on a limb and say that Apple will unveil the iPhone 5 on a Monday or Wednesday (based on previous product launches), as an early September unveiling has been all but confirmed we think that the iPhone 5 will be revealed on Monday 4th, Wednesday 7th, Monday 11th or Wednesday 13th, we could be wrong, but this makes sense to us. Chances are if it is revealed in early September it will be release a little later on in the month.
As and when we hear more iPhone 5 release rumors we will keep you posted, hopefully some juicy details will begin to leak soon as things are much quieter than they were in the months leading to the iPhone 4 release. When do you think the iPhone 5 will finally be unveiled?
