If you are an owner of either the Dell Venue Pro or the HTC Desire HD and have experienced any WiFi connectivity problems in the past, you have some luck coming your way as both handsets are set for updates that will fix your niggling WiFi issues that have plagued you throughout your phones life so far.
First up, the HTC Desire HD is currently in the waiting room anticipating a small firmware update that is said to bring “Wi-Fi performance improvements,” plus we are guessing that some other features will be bundled with the update that we are not aware of as yet.
The update is believed to be around 20MB big, and for such a high-end download, it is obvious that HTC have more than just Wi-Fi improvements in store for all HTC Desire HD users.
This latest update will bring your phone up to date with version 2.50.405.2, and if you haven’t yet updated your phone since you received it, we suggest you do so now. As for the latest update, we can reveal that it is only currently available for all unlocked versions of the Desire HD, but carrier-branded versions should be released in due course. Check out IntoMobile for the full story.
Dell Venue Pro have it a little easier, as Dell’s Lionel Menchaca personally tweeted information regarding the update on Twitter. According to the tweet, Dell will be rolling out the update today for T-Mobile customers in the US, and all other networks and carriers outside of the US.
Unfortunately, as IntoMobile have reported, Menchaca updated his tweet and said that all T-Mobile versions have all been delayed until next week. We are not sure of the reasoning behind this, but all other carriers should be able to download the update without any issues.
No news regarding AT&T’s version of the Venue Pro, though. Our only guess is that if you did purchase your Venue Pro via AT&T, it looks like you will have to wait a little longer for your long awaited update. Maybe you could try HSPA connectivity? Or not.
So there we have it. Two new updates that should fix Wi-Fi connectivity issues for the Dell Venue Pro and HTC Desire HD. If you have downloaded any of these updates, please leave us and our readers some feedback so that they can check to see if everything is working as intended.
Remember, before updating we recommend backing up any existing personal data as sometimes updating smartphones can go wrong.
