Droid Bionic vs. Apple iPhone 5: July rumors

If the smartphone battle in 2011 were about two devices then that would certainly be a battle of the Droid Bionic by Motorola and iPhone 5 by Apple. You will find major phone releases from the likes of Samsung, BlackBerry, and HTC but these brands do not have the most desired phones. The enhancements in the Droid Bionic are impressive, these include a form factor that’s both improved and similar to the Droid X2, enhanced functionality, and more features.

An article on IBT has taken a look at the differences between iPhone 5 and Droid Bionic, which are based on some of the latest Apple and Motorola rumors. They pull together a lot of the recent rumors into one article, which includes details on the expected specs for the 5th generation iPhone and upcoming Droid Bionic. They study different features and these include the display, UI, memory, input features, speed, the cameras, WLAN, expected processor, battery life, and differences in OS.

IBT are not the only blog reporting news about both these smartphones and seeing how they stack up to each other. Gotta Be Mobile has also taken a look at both the iPhone 5 and Droid Bionic, and two of their authors compared the devices from two points of views. One article (seen here) looked at five reasons the Motorola Droid Bionic will win against the iPhone 5, and another explained (seen here) how the iPhone 5 would beat the Droid Bionic. It’s interesting to read the views of two different authors from the same site, and they do bring valid points to the table. For instance, one author claims that while iOS 5 will be a big improvement to the next iPhone, Ice Cream Sandwich (the major Android release) already has many of the features that iOS 5 will have. They also state that the iPhone’s under 4-inch screen is too small these days, although we’ll disagree there, who wants a massive display that’s harder to fit in a pocket; edge-to-edge displays are the answer.

The bottom line is personal preference, and while people will always back their favorite device, the fact is each device suits different people. It’s good the consumer has the choice in the first place. Have a read of the above articles, and the included rumors, then let us know if you agree with their assumptions.

Expect the best comparisons to come once both of the phones are released and in the hands of consumers and journalists, which will not be long especially considering the iPhone 5 is apparently less than 2 months away from release.

The iPhone 5 will outsell the Bionic, Galaxy S II and any other Android phone that comes to market this year.  The iPhone 5 will probably will have inferior specs to the new Android phones but it won’t matter.  However, there are some of us that don’t want a small inferior phone.  Love the Android pissing on the apple!!
