FIFA 12 Career Mode improvements: Satisfied so far?

For many of those who are waiting for FIFA 12 to be released, the main feature of the game that you’d like to see improved will be the Career Mode. For these people Career Mode will be the mode which will be played the most so an improvement to the experience is hoped for. Last year EA introduced this mode which linked together Be A Pro, Manager Mode and also a new mode Player Manager. FIFA Producer, David Rutter recently exposed a group of reporters at a press event to some details about changes and improvements that have been made to the Career Mode.

Earlier we brought you news of a hands-on preview of the game and first impressions of the improvements made in general. The aim of the Career Mode improvements, which have been built upon from FIFA 11, are to try and gain a greater sense of realism and allow for the user to feel they have a deeper involvement in the game mode. Better competition structures, a more authentic transfer engine and more realistic press reports are amongst the details that EA have aimed to improve.

Here is what was found from the press event. While media coverage in the FIFA 11 Career Mode was fairly basic, repeating itself too often and not reporting on much, this year’s promises a news feed that will comment on all kinds of topics, from player’s happiness to player’s availability and will also have an impact of the manager gameplay.

An example of the new level media involvement was shown in the press event. While before if a player became injured that would be the full extent to the news feed, now if a player is picked despite not being 100% fit comments about the risk factor are reported dependent on whether it pays off or not.

Another feature which has been improved, according to PS3Attitude, is players will now come to the manager with more issues. For example if a player is unhappy at not being played he will let you know and maybe request a transfer. Also a player’s unhappiness will affect their ability and form just as it would in real life. Managers will then have to be wary that the press does not get hold of the news as this would alert other teams to the player’s mood.

The transfer system has also been greatly improved, with the players’ now being more competitive and have more of a say as to how much they should get paid from their contract. Bids are also easier to get right with feedback and advice as to how much to offer, will be provided the chairman. If an offer is too low the likelihood of another team getting the player is also increased.

This year’s game will bring back the older style scouts that you got in previous FIFA games, which you can send out to different parts of the world and they will report back with recommendations and an estimated ability level. This is a feature I personally will be pleased to see as the scouts on FIFA 11 simply suggested the best players that were available for transfer without the need to send them out.

What do you think of the improvements you have heard about the game so far?

Manager mode really suck! How are you supposed to improve the team when there is no income for the club per match?
Where are the staff upgrade section? Why did they take it away??

    A) why can’t I have 2 minute halves like I do in the IPad version?

    B) Why can’t I have Visual Sim like on IPad version

    C) Why is my player ALWAYS BENCHED FOR UEFA CHAMPIONS CUP GAMES IN CAREER MODE!!!

I give this game a C+ at best.
