We recently brought you talk of the iPhone 5 being thinner and lighter, but difficult to manufacture. We have heard before that Apple could be bringing something different with the next version of the iPhone, but today we can tell you that Apple may bring out a more affordable iPhone to be alongside an all new model.
We have had a lot of speculation that Apple could be bringing out a slightly improved iPhone 4S later this year, but Seth Weintraub of 9 to 5 Mac is reporting that reliable sources have told them there will be two totally different iPhone models released in September. One of the models is thought to be a cheaper device designed to take on the Android market, while the other will be completely new and a top of the range device.
The two devices will look totally different and easily recognizable. There is already two much different iPhone devices available with the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4. But it is thought Apple needs a completely new device for the lower end of the market. Now if you think of the current iPod Touch this could be used by Apple to base a cheaper iPhone on.
If you were to add enough components to the device to be able to make calls, and with a better camera you could have a device which could sell for around $299. Also if this device was universal and could be used worldwide, it would open up many new markets to Apple.
Apple have said themselves that they don’t want the iPhone to be exclusive to the rich, and if you think the amount of cheaper smartphones available on the Android platform it makes sense for Apple to open up to a wider audience.
One of Apples biggest successes has been the App Store, and by getting even more people to join its ecosystem will create even bigger revenues. Once users have the device they will want to personalize it as much as possible, and this is generally done with applications.
And if the company still brings out a nice new high-end iPhone they continue to please the customers they already have in that market and cover all the bases. As we can expect in the lead up to an Apple product launch, speculation heats up the nearer we get to a release. Would you like to see a lower spec but more affordable iPhone?
