Burnout Crash officially announced: Gameplay trailer revealed

We first heard news about a new installment in the Burnout series back in April this year, when the Burnout Crash game was revealed in an Australian Classification Board rating. The only details we could provide at that stage were the fact that it would be a downloadable title for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and that there was a possibility that it would be based on the popular Crash Mode from previous games.

As you can very well imagine, this left Burnout fans eager to find out more information about the upcoming game. They then got what they were waiting for a month later, when new game details made their way online. However, the Burnout Crash game had still not been made official by the developer or the publisher at that point, so we didn’t know whether the information was correct or not.

We can now tell you however that the Burnout Crash game has just been officially announced by Criterion Games and Electronic Arts. As Steve Melton over at xblafans.com recently noted, the Burnout Crash game has indeed been confirmed as being an XBLA and PSN title. Although we don’t know a specific release date at this stage, we do know that it is expected to arrive sometime in the fall of this year.

The other detail that has also been confirmed is the fact that the new game will be seen from a top-down perspective, something that doesn’t appear to have gone down too well with fans of the Burnout series. According to Creative Director Richard Franke, the Burnout Crash game is a crazy mixture of game shows and pinball. One detail that gamers may find interesting is that it does include an Autolog feature.

This of course will enable players to complete challenges with their friends. The Burnout Crash game will reward players for causing traffic chaos by crashing into other vehicles, triggering explosions and simply destroying everything they possibly can. Burnout Crash features three different game modes, which are playable across 18 different crash junctions in six unique locations.

What’s even more interesting about the Burnout Crash game however is the fact that it is Electronic Arts’ first Xbox Live Arcade title to feature a mode specifically designed for the Xbox 360 Kinect. Want to know what the game plays like on the Kinect? Well now you can as according to David Howard from mediakick.org, a new trailer has just been released and it gives us a glimpse of some gameplay footage using Kinect.
