Towards the end of last month we posted details on the different release dates we’ve had for the Motorola Droid 3, which was followed up just three days ago with an almost final Verizon Droid 3 release thanks to a leak, you can read about this and see the picture via this article. Today we can confirm that the rumors leaking from different sources were true, and the Motorola Droid 3 has been liberated.
You can find the full details and buy the Droid 3 on the official Verizon Wireless store, found on this page. The offer includes free overnight shipping, although you will need a data package and a 2-year contract to get the $199.99 Droid 3 price, which is reduced from $459.99 at full retail. If you decide to terminate this contract early you could end up with a $350 fee, something to think about although this is the case with most deals these days.
New Verizon Wireless customers should be aware that some new-tiered data plans are in affect from today, which the full details can be found out via the official website. The top features included in the Droid 3 are a slide-out QWERTY keyboard with 5-rows, 512MB RAM, Dual-core 1GHz TI OMAP processor, 4-inch QHD display, video capture at 1080P, 8-megapixel camera, capability to be used as a 3G Mobile Hotspot, and runs OS Android 2.3 (aka Gingerbread).
One of the cool features we like is the “Mirror mode”, which will allow you to display whatever is on the Droid 3 on a HDTV. This could be a picture from a recent holiday, videos of different occasions, even movies looking good on that high-definition television, although the draw back is a HDMI cable. This may seem logical to some users, but considering the iPad 2 with iOS 5 can do mirroring wirelessly, we would like this feature to come to the Droid at some point.
Apple should take note with one of the Droid 3 features, which is being Global ready. This means Droid 3 owners can use the device in over 200 countries, and this includes 3G speeds in over 125 countries. The offcial store also features a range of apps, media, and accessories you can use with the latest Droid phone. Feel free to let us know what accessories you plan to buy.
Are you going to buy the Motorola Droid 3, and if so will it be on a 2-year contract or off contract?
