Isn’t it strange that the iPad 2 is only four months old and there have already been prolonged Apple iPad 3 release rumors? Now if there was no truth it in, then the news would have died down by now? Looking back at what we know and what we have recently learned, there does seem to be some confusion, as there are a number of conflicting news reports.
Our first rumor is that the next iPhone will not be the iPad 3, but maybe something like iPad Plus. Now this is not as stupid as it sounds, as Apple already did this back in 2009, when they surprised us by launching the 3GS and not the iPhone 4. TG Daily has learned that the next iPad is already in the works, and that it could launch in time for the holiday season.

This is a shrewd move by Apple, as they could clean up over the holiday season. Rival tablets will do their best to take some of the market share from Apple, as they know that the current iPad 2 will be around 9 months old. However, we still do not think that the range of new tablets coming to market will still be able to compete with the iPad 2 – not until Android is able to offer more apps that can support Honeycomb or the newer version when it arrives.
There have been other rumors that suggest that the iPad 3 will come with an edge-to-edge display, a little like the rumors regarding the iPhone 5. There are pros and cons to this; yes it would be nice to have more screen area, but there will be no getting away from those fingerprints, as you will no longer be able to hold it by its edges. Having said all that, we have been transfixed on the beauty of this mockup that has been supplied by Digital Trends.
We cannot help that think that IBT is a little out of touch, as they insinuate that Apple should be worried by the Motorola Xoom, BlackBerry PlayBook and even the HTC Slate. Looking at sales figures we do not think that Apple has any fears.
IBT said that Apple might be forced into rushing the release of the iPad 3, as they will come under continued pressure from these rivals. Having said that, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is a true contender, so we will have to watch this space.
We do find all the rumors concerning the iPad 3 a little strange, why would Apple want to launch a new tablet when they cannot keep up with the high demand of the iPad 2?
