There are quite a few racing games available for the Apple iPad and iPad 2 now and just like with all other applications, some are definitely worth downloading more so than others. Whether you enjoy playing top-down racers or prefer arcade-style racing games, the Apple App Store has something for everyone. However, some of you may like to know which games are the best.
We found an interesting article over on the nowgamer.com website, which provides a list of the top 8 racing games for the iPad. First on the list is Reckless Racing, a top-down racer from Electronic Arts. One of the best things about the Reckless Racing game is the fact that it offers a variety of control schemes, not to mention that the career mode also has plenty to unlock.
Another good iOS racing game from Electronic Arts is Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit. Not only does the game look good, but it also features great single-player and multiplayer modes. Just like with the console versions, players can choose to either outrun the cops in supercars such as the Pagani Zonda Cinque, or stop the racers in high-speed police vehicles such as the Lamborghini Reventon.
Namco Networks America Inc.’s Ridge Racer Accelerated has also made it onto the list. Although the Ridge Racer Accelerated game is free to download, you are expected to fork out more money in order to unlock further cars and tracks. Playing in the Arcade Mode will enable players to choose their own difficulty level. If you enjoy top-down racers, then you may like the Death Rally game.
The Death Rally game features a massive single player career mode, as well as leaderboards and achievements via Game Center. Another racing game worth downloading is Shrek Kart, which is said to be very similar to the hugely popular Mario Kart. Shrek Kart comes complete with boost jumps, shortcuts, power-ups, and dramatic last minute position changes right before you cross the finish line.
Meanwhile, the Uber Racer 3D Sandstorm game may lack in the visual department, but it definitely makes up for in terms of racing. Players will be racing against the clock in a number of different environments including crumbling ruins and abandoned ships. Asphalt 6: Adrenaline HD is another game that deserves mentioning. It’s a great pick-up-and-play game that doesn’t require too much time per go.
The best racing game of them all however has to be Real Racing 2 HD. Not only does it have a huge career mode and outstanding graphics, but it also features licensed cars and an HDMI output to connect it to your TV. What are your favorite racing games for the iPad / iPad 2?
