Sprint’s Samsung Trender includes family locator

By Updated on

With so many handsets coming to market it is often difficult to know which handset to choose. While most consumers weigh up the pros and cons of the Galaxy S II and the Droid Bionic, there are those who are looking for a simpler phone, and that’s where Sprint’s Samsung Trender comes in, which also includes Family Locator.

The Trender has a few green credentials, such a being made from recyclable material. Other features include a slide-out QWERTY keyboard for those who like to send messages more than they like to call. However, there is the added benefit of a touchscreen – although not too certain how responsive it will be?

The Samsung Trender is more for the female consumer, as the only two color options are Sapphire and Amethyst, and we have to say that the colors helps to add a little bit of quality to the overall design. If there was ever a style contest for a handset, then the Trender could be in the running.

Do not let the simple looks put you off though, as this handset is just as happy for some business users, thanks to its corporate and personal email shortcuts, as well as its Twitter and Facebook applications. OK, so we know that most enterprise users want a handset like the Droid Bionic or even the HTC EVO, but the Trender is ideal for those who would much rather a simple phone.

One feature that we mentioned above was Family Locator, and what this does is gives you peace of mind for your entire family. The service offers real-time locations thanks to satellite maps, which can then be accessed via any cell phone or computer. It couldn’t be simpler to make sure that your kids stay safe, because if your kids do not get home on time, then you will be sent a notification.

Sprint has been a bit vague about Family Locator being a feature on this handset, as they do not say if you get a year free subscription? However, we do know that Sprint is currently offering a 15-day free trial, and in that time we believe that it will not take much convincing to sign-up for the service. Only then will you have to pay $5 per month for support of up to 4 phones, and the good thing is you do not have to sign up to any contracts, as you can cancel at any time.
