Asus G74SX-A1 / G74SX-3DE gaming laptops: Price and release

We have been hearing about a number of new laptops and desktops designed specifically with gamers in mind over the past week or so, including the GX780 and GT780R gaming laptops from MSI and Acer’s eye-catching Predator G5910 gaming desktop.

Today however we have news regarding the price and release of the much-awaited Asus G74SX-A1 and G74SX-3DE gaming laptops. As noted over on the laptoping.com website, the G74 is powered by a quad-core Intel Core i7 2630QM Sandy Bridge processor and runs Windows 7 Home Premium.

Both models come with a 17.3-inch display, although the G74SX-3DE also comes equipped with a 120Hz 3D screen and NVIDIA Vision 3D glasses kit. The G74SX also boasts 12GB of RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M graphics card with 3GB of GDDR5 VRAM and dual 750GB (7,200rpm) HDDs.

The two models also come with THX TruStudio audio with stereo speakers with subwoofer, an isle-style backlit keyboard, four SODIMM slots for up to 16GB of DDR3 RAM memory, two hard drive bays, an 8-cell 5200mAh battery and a new cooling system with dual fans.

In terms of price and release, the G74SX-A1 – which comes with a Blu-ray Combo drive – costs $1.745, while the G74SX-3DE – which includes a Blu-ray burner – is priced up at $1,979. Both models should be available to purchase from ExcaliberPC as from June 28th.

    I just now bought a G74SX-A1 at my local Best Buy for $1299. I was after the G73, but he associate came out of the back with this beast, and couldn’t find it in the system. So he set the price the same, we took it up front and bought it. I feel like a badass.

      Best Buy always get the stripped down features. Im guessing you didnt get a blue-ray player, a much lower rez screen, etc.
