Recently SlashGear got their hands on the HTC ChaCha, they have now posted a fully detailed review which is well-worth checking out if you are considering purchasing what is being dubbed the Facebook phone. You can see it in its entirety here, we will summarize their findings in our post.
SlashGear say that the physical design is pretty desirable and it feels thinner in the hand than photos and measurements suggest, the slightly bent design ensures that the when you are holding the ChaCha and typing on the physical QWERTY keyboard with your thumbs the screen sits at a nice view-able angle, also when placed face-down the slight bend ensures that the screen doesn’t get scratched.
In terms of features the 2.6-inch display is a little small, however it is still bright and clear and as for the physical QWERTY keyboard it is well-spaced and has nice-sized keys, when you press the keys there is a nice clicky feel. SlashGear also go on to say that in terms of build quality it is nicely weighted but what you would expect from a low to mid-end smartphone.
When testing out the integration, software, camera, sound and battery life SlashGear’s Chris Davies was not blown away, however he was not greatly disappointed either, we recommend checking out the full review for detailed information.
In the wrap up Davies says that the HTC ChaCha is not up to scratch for people wanting a high-end smartphone, but as a messaging device with neat social networking integration it is great. The main problem is that most smartphones these days offer great social networking functionality therefore its main selling point has to be its physical QWERTY keyboard.
